A Brief History of Kinesiology?

This brief guide will take you quickly through the history of kinesiology.

It may also help explain the way we work, drawing together the philosophies of many therapies into a single, yet diverse and holistic practice.

A Breif History of Kinesiology with ‘Insights’…

Kinesiology is… a relatively new practice, deveoped by a Dr. George Goodheart in the mid-60’s.

It is very popular in the U.S., Canada, Far East, South Amaerica and Europe, it is becoming better known in Ireland and the U.K.

Its increasing popularity is largley in response to the results so many have experienced.

A Brief History of kinesiology with Insights…

Each person brings along their own unique presenting circumstances and therefore each treatment is individual and tailored to you – a personalised therapy.

This is what makes kinesiology unique.

Allow me to explain how that came to be…

Kinesiology as we know it, as a therapy, was developed from the research carried out by Dr. George Goodheart, D.C..

To help broaden his research he brought in 11 other medical and holistically trained people. Now-a-days, we may call that ‘integrated medicine’, once again showing Dr. Goodheart was ahead of his time.

This diversity of Kinesiology is incredible, largely due to the range of talented, highly skilled and enlightened medical professionals that Dr. Goodheart invited to form the International College of Applied Kinesiology (ICAK).

To be a member of ICAK requires medical qualifications, such as medical doctor, chiropractor, osteopath, herbalist, naturopath, acupuncture, GBYN, dentist and so on. This is part of the why kinesiology is diverse and approaches the person in such a holistic and unique way.

Thankfully some of the ICAK members shared the highly researched information with lay practitioners, such as myself.

Dr. Sheldon Deal and Dr. John Thie are some of those people who shared.

It is – without doubt – because of their willingness to share this vast wealth of knowledge that kinesiology is such a widespread and popular holistic therapy.

For a longer description on the history of kinesiology here is a link to the Kinesiology Association that I am a member of.

I am a Kinesiology practitioner and tutor for over 20 years.

A member of both the UK and Irish Kinesiology Associations.

I also hold qualifications in Aromatherapy, Reflexology and Body Massage.

To recap…

Kinesiology is a very diverse and holistic therapeutic intervention which is entirely focused on each person as an individual in each treatment, each session is tailored to your current needs and no two treatments are exactly the same.
